Hi, I'm John Lozier. I call myself a harper for harmony. I formed Harping for Harmony Foundation as a non-for-profit corporation in 1995. This page is a place to tell my stories.
My personal harp story began in 1991, when I traveled to Venezuela and discovered the folk harp.
My longer personal story goes way back to my growing up in the 1950’s, college in the ‘60’s, and life events in subsequent decades, and into the new millennium.
Promoting live traditional Latin American harp music has been my preoccupation for 30 years. Search online for examples of the various Latin harp traditions, including Paraguaya (Paraguay); llanera (of the Venezuela/Colombia plains); tuyera (highland Venezuela); jarocha (Mexico/Veracruz); huayno (Andean Ecuador, Bolivia, Peru) … among many others.
